The company was established by the Decree of the Moscow City Government # 568 dated 27th June 1995 with purpose to realise the Programme of the creation of the system of the modern wholesale food complex of Moscow.

Concerning the Decree of the Moscow City Government, since August 2004, the "Moscow Wholesale Food Markets" is a head executor of the projects on creating, development and provision of the Information and Analytical System of the Wholesale Food Market of Moscow (IAS WFM).

The Information and Marketing Center is established and functioning now on the base of the JSC "Moscow Wholesale Food Markets"; the network of information centers is formed on the enterprises of the wholesale food complex. The specialists of the company have already elaborated and instilled into enterprises the first stage of the Information and Analytical System.

At present, 65 largest enterprises of wholesale food complex provide, in day-and-night regimen, the collecting and transmission into the system of the data on volumes and prices of goods selling by this enterprises as well as by its operator (more than 400 operators). It is corresponds to 50% of the wholesale food market of the city. To the end of the year 2005, 170 enterprises (1600 operators) will be united in the Information and Analytical System.

The JSC "Moscow WFM" organizes cooperation between the Information and Analytical System of the wholesale food market of Moscow and regional information resources, information services of the Ministry for Agriculture of the Russia, the Ministry for Agriculture and Food Production of the Moscow region, regional chambers of commerce and industry. This cooperation is aimed to form the unified inter-regional information space, to get the efficient and real information on the state and forecasting of the food market.
